May 12, 2011
For Immediate Release
No advertising signs on hydro poles or trees on City property
In an effort to clean up the city, the Municipal Law Enforcement Office
would like to remind companies and the public that it is illegal to
erect any sign which is located on lands owned by the City of Kawartha
Lakes, or to erect a sign which is attached to any public utility pole
or which interferes with any municipal or public utility service.
Some signs are permitted on City property by permit. All permits are issued by the Building Department. Call 705-324-9411 ext. 1288 for more information.
Companies and the public are asked to remove any signs that have been illegally erected.
Municipal Law Enforcement Officers will be monitoring the signs and removing all illegally placed signs or signs erected without a permit.
The public will still be allowed to put up their garage/street sale signs
but are required to remove them within 24 hours of the sale ending.
For more information on the by-law, please call Municipal Law Enforcement at 705-324-9411 ext. 1212.
